The holidays are officially here! Snow is on the ground, Christmas music is playing 99% of the time, and Christmas shoppers have begun their yearly hunt for the perfect gifts. I must say I thoroughly enjoy my yearly endeavour of searching for the ultimate gifts for everyone on my list, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have at least one girl who is more of a challenge to buy for.
What do you buy the girl who has everything? What do you buy for the picky ones? How do you pick out a gift for someone who gives no hints toward what they want?
That's where this list comes in. I've compiled a list of gifts, varying in price, that I think anyone on your list would enjoy! I'm hoping that this post will spark some gift ideas for your loved ones that you may not have otherwise thought of. Without further adieu, here is my 2015 Holiday Gift Guide, for her!
1) MAC Lipstick, $20
These are by far one of my favourite gifts to both give and receive. The options are endless in terms of colour selection, and they are perfect for both the girls who love makeup, and those who maybe don't wear it as often. You don't have to wear makeup everyday to appreciate a MAC lipstick! They are available in a variety of shades and finishes, and the girls at the counter are incredibly helpful when it comes to choosing out a colour. I have went on multiple occasions to pick out a lipstick for someone else, and they are always so helpful when trying to choose a colour, even for someone they can't see!
Recommended shades:
- Velvet Teddy (Darker nude)
- Ruby Woo (True classic red)
- Diva (Deep burgundy/red)
2) Giving Keys, $50 and up
A very cute and trendy piece of jewelry, but with a powerful message. Before I start, I'll share what The Giving Keys has to say about their company on their website:
"Embrace your word, then pay it forward to a person you feel needs the message more than you. Write us the story of why you gave it away at thegivingkeys.com.
We employ those transitioning out of homelessness."
The idea behind these keys is to select one with a word that means something to the person you are giving it to. They are all engraved with a specific word, such as strength, hope, light, love.. etc. The person you give it to is then supposed to give it to someone else who they believe needs the word/message on their key more than they do. Of course you don't have to give it away if you don't want to, but the intent behind it is something I really admire. Of course I love the necklaces for how they look, but it also feels great supporting a company with amazing values.
There are a variety of styles available on the website, catering to all different tastes in jewelry. I think this is a great way to give something trendy, but also very meaningful.
3) Perfume, $70 and up
I don't know why, but perfume is something I don't like buying for myself. I much prefer receiving it as a gift. I'm not sure if it's because it can be more on the expensive side, or if it is because I like to see what scents others may find appealing for me. I think that's what makes perfume such a fun gift to pick out for someone! During the holidays is one of the best times to purchase fragrances, as 90% of the time your scent of choice is usually bundled in a gift set with some extra bonuses, and for a cheaper price!
Here are some popular fragrances that many of the ladies have been loving this past year:
- Paco Rabanne, Lady Million
- Marc by Marc Jacobs, Daisy
- Viktor and Rolf, Flowerbomb
- Elizabeth and James, Nirvana
- Tom Ford, Noir Pour Femme
4) Hillberg & Berk Sparkle Ball Earrings, $80
This one is for the girl who needs a little extra sparkle in their life. These earrings are beautiful in pictures, but even more stunning in person. With a Hillberg & Berk boutique finally opening in Saskatoon, I have slowly been seeing more and more of the stunners on the ears of Saskatoon ladies. H&B showcases a variety of colours in this style; there is surely a pair to match whoever it is your are buying for. I love how they have a wide range of brighter colours too, but I do consider myself a neutral kind of girl. The picture above showcases my five favourite neutral colours.
A fun fact about Hillberg & Berk is that it is actually a Saskatchewan-born company. Pretty cool if you ask me!
5) Portable Phone Charger, $20
These have been a life saver for me on more than one occasion. They are compact to allow you to fit them in any small purse, and give your phone a complete charge when you can't be by a plug-in! They are great for travelling, camping, music festivals, or those days when you are out of the house for extended periods of time and can't be bothered to plug your phone into an outlet. You can purchase these on Amazon, and I have even seen some at my local Winners. These are great for anyone with a phone. So yes, anyone.
6) Victoria's Secret Sleep Shirts, $30
What girl doesn't love sleep? Better yet, what girl doesn't love sleeping AND looking cute at the same time? None. Don't get me wrong, I love sleeping in my old high school sweats and baggy t-shirts, but it's nice to have those PJ's that are fun to put on at night (and not those kind, boys).
These sleep shirts from Victoria's Secret are incredibly comfortable, and long enough to double as a night gown. Pair it with a pair of ultra soft socks and you have yourself the ultimate sleeping outfit in my books!
7) Sephora Beauty Sets, $40 and up
The holidays are my favorite time of year at Sephora. The store is bursting with gift sets and I can never find enough time to take them all in! They have a set for available for every kind of makeup junkie. Lip gloss sets, brush sets, sets of best sellers, brand specific sets... really, anything!
One that I love every year is the "Lash Stash" gift set. It features around eight different sample sized mascaras, and 1-2 full sized tubes. I love it because it allows you to try many different mascaras at once. Even for girls that don't wear a lot of makeup, mascara is usually a staple in their everyday routine.
The set looks different every year, as they change up the contents yearly. However, it is always one of my favourites regardless of it's contents!
8) Quay Sunglasses, $70 and up
These beauties have been blowing up all over social media in the last year. They have been worn by too many celebs too count, and are a sure statement piece in any girl's accessory collection. Quay (pronounced "key") is an Australian based company, and the sunglasses are available to purchase on their online website. Luckily for those of you located in Saskatoon, I have actually seen these available for purchase at White Dhalia on 2nd avenue! I purchased my pair there, and have been wearing them constantly since then.
There are an abundance of styles available. Metal frames, plastic frames, mirrored lenses, colored lenses... you name it, they have 'em. If you are wanting to buy for someone who loves their accessories, they will love these unique and trendy sunnies!
9) Starbucks Ceramic Travel Mug, $25
I always look forward to the Starbucks holiday launch every year. Obviously I am a lover of their overly addicting Christmas drinks, but I get just as excited to see the new holiday cups and gift sets. These ceramic travel mugs are surely my new favourite.
Last year, I purchased what I think is the cutest mug ever made. It was white in colour, and had a gold top with black hand-painted hearts all over it. It might be the most girly mug to ever exist, but boy do I love it. Every girl may not be into the ultra-girly look, but that is why there are so many other designs to choose from. I only pictured four above, but walk into any local Starbucks and you will see so many more!
10) Frends Headphones, $250
I first noticed these bad boys on none other than Kylie Jenner. She has a public Snapchat that I (obviously) follow, and I saw her wearing these while jamming to some Bryson Tiller. I immediately got onto Google and started the relentless search to find out what headphones these were. Little did I know, she would post the next day saying what the exact headphones were that she was wearing, proving my half-hour long Google search to be a waste of time. Can't win 'em all, I suppose.
Anyways, these headphones stand out of the obvious reason. They look FAB. I'd imagine that at a 250 dollar price tag the sound must be quite nice as well! I think these would be great for any music lover or traveller.
12) Aritzia Blanket Scarf, $85
You didn't actually think I'd leave these out, did you?
These beautiful scarves are one of my favourite items at Aritzia. They can be worn multiple ways, and with virtually anything. They keep you warm, and look great. What more could you ask for?!
Right now in our Saskatoon store there are TONS of colours and patterns in both the mixed stripes and diamond mosaic scarf. I personally lean toward the more neutral patterns, but there are some brighter ones that are definitely catching my eye as well. These scarves are usually one of the first things I recommend to people that are unsure of what to buy for any girl, as there is one for any style preference.
I hope today's post helped those of you who may be in a Christmas shopping rut. Stay tuned for the "For Him" version, coming very soon!
