As promised, I have put together a holiday gift guide for those of you struggling to buy for the men in your life. I'm not sure why, but I think us girls always panic a little when it comes to shopping for the males... but don't fret, I've got you covered this year! My list features items that cater to a variety of tastes; there is sure to be something for even the pickiest of men.
Yes boys, it's your turn now.
1) Cologne
This one may not be the most creative of the bunch, but it is certainly a favourite of mine to purchase. I love picking out scents for the men in my life, and it can be especially fun if you have a significant other. I mean who wouldn't love choosing a scent that you get to be around 90% of the time? Here are my five favourites that I have pictured above:
- Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb, $145
- Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio, $124
- Dior Sauvage, $102
- Tom Ford Oud Wood, $585
- Paco Rabanne One Million, $138
* all prices are for the largest bottle available
2) Giving Keys
I know I mentioned these in my gift guide for the ladies, but I really think these make an amazing gift for anyone. They have a variety of styles that really will suit anyone. There are some that are more dainty that are more suitable for the girls, but they also have a range that are much more masculine as well. The chains are a lot thicker, and the keys are larger too. I think these are great if you are wanting to purchase something trendy, and also very thoughtful.
3) Dress Socks
For the men that often dress up, or can appreciate a nice pair of socks, some fancy new dress socks might be up their alley! It has been on trend lately for men's dress socks to add a pop of colour to an otherwise monochromatic suit. Below I have some picked out that I thought looked looked fun & trendy:
- Butgatchi 3 Pack, $79 (example here)
- Ted Baker, $22 (example here)
- Lorenzo Uomo, $18 (example here)
- BOSS, $25 (example here)
4) Watch
A great watch should be a staple in anyone's accessory game, even for the guys! As we all know, there are an abundance of watch styles to choose from whether it be something very casual, or a piece that will dress up an outfit for an evening out. Daniel Wellington watches have become increasingly popular within the last few years, so I had to include a watch of his in the picture above. I think they are fantastic for a variety of men, and will remain timeless in years ahead. Michael Kors also puts out a wonderful range of men's watches. There are a variety of metal tones available, which I think is nice when it comes to choosing the perfect colour. BOSS is another one of my favourite watch brands for men. The styles vary from very fashion forward and edgy, to classic and understated. Two websites that I use often to look for watches are Nordstrom and The Bay.
5) Hair Products
Believe it or not, a lot of men really do use hair products! Although most don't like to admit it, there is usually a stash somewhere in the bathroom of his most used products to get that 'do looking fabulous. On the flipside, there may be some men out there with some unruly locks who refuse to tame them with some product. What better way to send a subtle hint than to toss a little hair product into their stocking from Santa? Then this way the big guy in red is to blame, and not you. Smart or what?
Some great lines out there are Kevin Murphy, Redken, and Crew. All three of these lines specialize in men's haircare, and put out some amazing products for guys with both short and long hair.
6) Jack Black Shave Products
For the bearded men in your life, or anyone who shaves for that matter, this product line is a MUST. Jack Black is carried at Sephora, and is a bestseller for good reason. I obviously haven't use this line of products as it is an entirely men's line, but I have heard nothing but rave reviews from the guys who have used it. Within the line there is a shave gel, or beard lube as they call it, which is apparently life changing. Jack Black also carries a conditioning after shave, facial moisturizer, lip balm, exfoliating scrubs, and many more products that are changing the beard game of men everywhere!

7) Beanie
Something simple that he will surely love... a beanie! Or toque, as us Canadians like to call it. These are small, inexpensive, but well-loved by men everywhere. They are great for the snowboarders, outdoorsman, trendsetters, or everyday guys... so yes, everyone.
8) Underwear (My Package, Saxx)
As much as I'm sure you'd all love to see me try and describe men's underwear, I'm going to have to pass on this one. I've just heard these ones are great okay?!
9) Joggers
One of the trends that I've been loving for the guys this season are joggers. I think these automatically bump up a guy's style points by at least 50%, so yes, quite significant. Urban Outfitters, Jack & Jones, and Zanerobe are awesome places to look for a great pair of joggers. These are extremely comfortable and easy to wear; I think you'd be hard pressed to find a guy who doesn't like how they feel. I'm thinking these would be best for the guy who likes clothing that is a little more trendy, and is okay with something being a little more slim around the legs.
10) Raybans
Another great staple that every person should have is a great pair of sunglasses. Of course they don't have to be RayBans, but I chose these because they have become increasingly popular for men in the last few years. RayBans are great quality, and are a leading force when it comes to sunnies. They have various styles ranging from sporty, casual, trendy, and everyday wear. The RayBans I chose for the above picture happen to be all black, but there are a variety of colours out there as well.
11) Bluetooth Speaker
For the music lovers out there, or the guys who love to jam, a bluetooth speaker may be right up their alley. There are many on the market right now, but I definitely think wireless is the way to go. The speaker on the left is actually a shower speaker that is fully waterproof. I think these are awesome for getting ready in the morning -- I mean who wouldn't love listening to their favourite tunes while in the shower? The speaker in the middle is the Beats Pill. I'm sure most of you have seen these, but they are extremely popular for good reason. The sound quality is amazing even with the speaker being so small. They are compact, and look cool too! The last one is a Bose speaker system. Is is entirely wireless, and has enough power and sound quality to fill and entire room. These are great if he won't be using it for travelling, and rather a docking station for home use.
12) FitBit
These would make a wonderful gift for the guys that are into fitness, or those who are wanting to be! There are a few variations of FitBits on the market right now, so you'd have to do a little digging to find out what exactly he is wanting it for. For example, one version has a heart rate monitor and the others don't. These come in a multitude of colours, making it easy to choose one that you think best suits the man in your life.
13) Herschel Duffle
For the guys on the go, these duffle bags would make a great Christmas gift. Although I only chose four bags for the above picture, I'll have you know that Herschel has an extremely large selection of bags. There are many different styles, colours, and textures available. Another great feature of this brand of bag is that they actually come with a 1 year warranty as well. Check out Herschel's website if you are interested in one of these bad boys, as they will still make it in time for Christmas if you decide to order online!
14) S'Well Waterbottle
Here we have it, the latest innovation in water bottles. These S'well bottles claim to fame is that they keep your cold drinks cold for 24 hours, and your hot drinks hot for 12 hours. Pretty neat, ya? They come in, you guessed it, MANY different colours. These are great of course for the active guys out there, but anyone can appreciate a nice water bottle that keeps your water cold or hot.
With only eleven days left until Christmas, I hope this list will help some of you last minute shoppers out there! Best of luck braving the malls and crazy Christmas shoppers!
